Fishing on the river Kolpa
WHERE (YOU CAN FISH)
The authorised fishing area* managed by the Kočevje Fishing Society is on the river Čabranka from the bridge in the village of Podplanina to its outflow into the river Kolpa and on the river Kolpa from its confluence with the river Čabranka to the dam in the village of Dol.
From the confluence of the Kolpe and the Čabranská River to the Petrina border crossing, the catching of all species of fish is prohibited!
*A fishing district is a defined area of a watercourse or standing water where fishing is allowed under the conditions laid down in the fishing rules. This area is usually managed by fishing families or associations, which are responsible for the conservation of fish species, the regulation of the number of fishing days and the control of fishing practices.

PERMITTED FISHING METHOD
- Chabranka: catch-and-release regime and fly-fishing with a lipless fly-finder.
- Salmonids: single artificial fly regime. The use of barbless or squeeze hooks is compulsory throughout the district.
- Cyprinids: whitefish farming regime with whitefish accessories. Allowed baits are bread, fruit, cheese and moss. The use of earthworms or bone worms is prohibited!
Cyprinids may only be fished from the bridge in Petrina downstream to the dam in Dol. Fishing from the boat and the bridge is not allowed. Fishing is allowed from dawn to dusk.
PURCHASE OF LICENCES (FOR FISHING)
To fish on the River Kolpa, you need a fishing licence, which you can buy from fishing families, fishing shops or online. The licence allows you to fish in certain areas and under specific conditions laid down in the fishing rules. The rules may vary depending on the area, the species of fish and the time of year, so it is important that fishermen follow them. Fishing without a licence is prohibited!
