Savica Waterfall
Savica Waterfall is one of the most famous and unique waterfalls in Slovenia. At first glance, it may appear like any other waterfall originating from a steep cliff, but this is not the case. The uniqueness of Savica Waterfall lies in its underground path before it springs to the surface in the cliff of Komarča and then falls 78 meters deep. Its uniqueness becomes evident when it splits into two channels underground and later emerges in the shape of the letter “A”, earning it the name “double waterfall.” Savica Waterfall originates at an altitude of 836 meters and is 78 meters high. It is fed by water that flows from the Valley of the Triglav Lakes and beneath Mount Pršivec. The water continues its journey through a horizontal underground tunnel before reaching the waterfall. The cave system that feeds Savica Waterfall hides many interesting features, such as siphons and underground lakes. The cave is accessible only with qualified guides and proper caving equipment.
